Jade Smith, Ph.D. Candidate
I studied Biological Sciences at Old Dominion University and graduated in 2021. I am passionate about my research in molecular biology and infectious diseases. Funded by NIH UMARC, I worked in a vaccination development lab before beginning my Ph.D. at Virginia Commonwealth University in Integrative Life Sciences. There, I studied the pharmacological and toxicological effects of emerging opioids in the forensic science department. Now, I research tick-borne diseases in the Marconi lab. My goal is to contribute to public health by advancing our understanding of these complex diseases and developing innovative approaches for diagnosis and treatment. I am committed to making a significant impact through my scientific endeavors.
